Responsibilities in the trust:
I am currently in my final year at Durham University, studying a Joint Honours in Mathematics and Computer Science. My interest in tackling complex maths concepts has lead to my final year dissertation on 'A visualisation of Special Relativity'. I have a keen interest in data, developments in finance and AI and enjoy further reading on history, maths and philosophy, because of this I have developed a passion for education and helping pupils to see maths as a tool for creativity and logical thinking outside of the classroom. I also currently volunteer as a tutor for refugee children in my local area.
Initially beginning my journey at Stanton Bridge as a volunteer, I was offered a part time role woking with pupils across Key Stage 2. During this time I designed and led intervention programmes for maths with a focus on bridging gaps in learning and building confidence in the application of mathematical knowledge and skills.
Seeing pupils improving in confidence and ability inspired me to continue to work alongside the school in the role of a Trustee.
I believe that as a Trust board member, I am able to work alongside staff to promote STEM, further ignite a passion for maths and foster curiosity for problem solving and real life application of mathematical skills.
I wish to advocate policies and practices that help all students of all backgrounds get a quality education.
